Community Service
Building Empathetic Leaders Through Bulldog Outreach
Community service is a cornerstone of PBDA's mission to nurture empathetic, responsible, and engaged citizens. Through Bulldog Outreach, students of all ages learn that serving others is both a privilege and a responsibility, and they discover the joy of making a positive difference in their community.

Lower School: Laying the Foundation
From their earliest years, PBDA students begin building lifelong habits of service. Lower School children participate in drives for used books, socks, and home essentials, understanding that small acts of giving can have a big impact. They join together for the annual Hope Rural School Breakfast at E.R. Bradley’s, donate proceeds from Entrepreneur Day to local nonprofits, read to and make treats for animals at Peggy Adams Rescue League, and unite each fall for the campus-wide Thanksgiving Project. These experiences introduce them to the idea that service is not occasional, but woven into the rhythm of everyday life.
Upper School: Expanding Impact
By the time students enter the Upper School, they have already made meaningful contributions and developed a strong sense of community responsibility. Here, their service takes on even greater depth. Upper School students are required to complete a set number of Bulldog Outreach hours each semester, which vary by grade. These hours may be earned through school-sponsored opportunities or through independent service beyond PBDA. This expectation ensures that every student continues to integrate service into their personal lives, growing into empathetic leaders who understand their power to make lasting change.
