2027 Rummage Sale
Last spring, the PBDA Rummage Sale returned after nearly 30 years, bringing together families, alumni, faculty, and community partners in support of a beloved school tradition. The hugely successful event is now gearing up to return this May.

A Tradition with Impact
Together, our community raised approximately $45,000 in support of PBDA’s Faculty Grant for Summer Study, helping provide meaningful professional growth opportunities for PBDA educators. More than 50 parent volunteers helped bring the Sale to life, and remaining merchandise was donated to Place of Hope, extending the impact beyond PBDA.
Your Donations at Work
The Rummage Sale supports the Faculty Grant for Summer Study, giving the recipient the opportunity to significantly advance their professional development, field of expertise, scholarly research, or creative work that will simultaneously enhance the student experience.
Veronica Arizabaleta, First Grade
Veronica traveled to Helsinki, Finland, to attend the HEAT (Helsinki Education in Action Teachers) Conference and experience firsthand a school system widely regarded as one of the best in the world. One of her biggest takeaways was Finland’s emphasis on the whole child—including independence, play, movement, and trust—and how those ideas can help create a classroom where students have greater ownership and enjoyment in their learning.
Lyndsay Welch, Upper School Science
Lyndsay’s grant supported a 10-day experiential study in Hawaii focused on Earth and space science. Her planned experiences included studying volcanoes, tsunami history, marine and mangrove ecosystems, and astronomy, all with direct connections to her Upper School science curriculum. The goal was to bring real-world scientific observations, updated materials, and new inquiry-based activities back to her students.

Large furniture will be accepted on a case-by-case basis and must be pre-approved. Email pbdarummagesale@pbday.org to coordinate. Gift-in-kind acknowledgements may be available upon request.
What We're Collecting
- Homewares: Small furnishings and décor; Large furniture will be accepted on a case-by-case basis - please contact pbdarummagesale@pbday.org to coordinate.
- Clothing & Accessories: For both adults and children. Clothing, handbags, hats, shoes, and jewelry are welcome.
- Books & Games: Complete sets only; Please no stuffed animals or broken toys.
- Sports Equipment: Cleats, shin guards, bicycles, golf clubs, and more.
- Cold-Weather Gear: For both adults and children. Ski clothing, warm accessories, shoes, and more.
- Used uniforms: Lower School and Upper School gently worn uniforms.
- Baby Gear: High chairs, strollers, bassinets, bouncers, baby toys, and accessories; No car seats, please.
- Costumes: Halloween, dress-up, and school-related costumes for the 2nd Grade Oregon Trail presentation, 4th Grade Little Red Schoolhouse field trip, 5th Grade Presidents and American Heroes Assembly, and Banquet of the Gods.
