Secondary School Preparation
Our Eighth Grade students are consistently accepted into the nation's leading secondary schools.
Every year, our PBDA graduates are accepted into the nation's leading secondary schools. Through our advisory program that identifies and differentiates the strengths of each student, our dedicated Secondary School Process, as well as through the partnerships formed with our parents, we proudly prepare our graduates for the school of choice that offers the academic and extracurricular offerings that interest them the most.
Preparation is Everything
Throughout the fall, students work with our faculty to practice mock interviews in preparation for their school visits. English classes also work on sample essays that will assist students when they complete their applications.
The Start of the Secondary School Journey
The secondary school process begins in the spring of seventh grade when students begin visiting local independent schools as well as joining evening Zoom meetings with Admissions Directors of private schools in Palm Beach County.
Students also work with their seventh-grade advisors to research schools of interest and identify secondary schools of interest.
Beginning in the spring of seventh grade and continuing into the fall of eighth grade, Admissions Directors from a variety of boarding schools visit PBDA's Upper Campus to meet with our students. In addition, families are invited to attend a boarding school fair in West Palm Beach every September where dozens of boarding schools are present.
Boarding School Road Trip
In late September, eighth-grade students have the option to travel with PBDA's Director of Secondary School Placement and our lead eighth-grade advisors to visit boarding schools in the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast. The goal of the trip is to introduce students to what residential life is like on campuses and explore a variety of factors such as size, geographic location, and gender, to determine what resonates the most with each student.

Our dedicated Secondary School Placement Team's extensive knowledge on the cultures and programs of each secondary school offers valuable insight as they guide each graduate toward the secondary school that is the best fit for them.
