Lower School

The Lower School experience is designed to build academic skills, confidence, public speaking skills, critical thinking, global awareness, and personal integrity.

Early Childhood

Our Pre-Primary and Primary programs, for students ages two through five, provide an environment designed to engage our youngest learners during their first school experience. With the goal of instilling a lifelong love of learning, our highly experienced early childhood teaching teams carefully plan classrooms that encourage exploration, problem-solving, and collaboration.

Elementary

For students in Kindergarten through the Third Grade, academic instruction is differentiated in order to meet each student’s needs and abilities. Lessons are strategically crafted to instill confidence while empowering these young learners to think critically. Students engage in 1:1, small, and whole group activities that help to foster strong literacy skills and mathematical thinking.

The PBDA Difference in the Lower School

Our Curriculum

The curriculum is designed to foster a love for learning in an environment that is both nurturing and challenging.

Two-Teacher Team Model

From Pre-Primary through Second Grade, each classroom has two faculty members.

Six-Day Schedule

This provides blocks of instructional time for core subjects while creating space for an innovative curriculum.

Public Speaking

We set the stage early for students to craft an argument, speak persuasively, and defend their opinions.

The Power of Movement

Students are given ample time and room outdoors each and every day to discover their bodies and the world.

Outside the Classroom

Students further develop their social-emotional skills through opportunities outside the classroom.
