Summer Reading 2016 - Grades 4-9

Required Summer Reading for Students entering 4th - 9th Grade

Book Report Format

Entering Grade 4

Required  - Two books of the student's choosing.

For fourth grade, we prefer to let you explore all the options in finding a book that excites your child and develops a passion for reading. To help students and parents make their choices, it may be helpful to refer to the Raymond Wean Library’s suggested reading lists which may be found on PBDA’s website under School Life within Library Resources. Other excellent resources for book suggestions are www.readkiddoread.com, www.goodreads.com, your local librarian, or your favorite bookstore.

Based on years of experience and recommendations from other children, here are some tried and true authors: Roald Dahl, Jack Gantos, Jean Craighead George, E.L. Konigsburg, C.S. Lewis, Lois Lowry, Scot O’Dell, Gary Paulsen, and Rick Riordan.

Students must either pass the AR tests, or write a book report using the approved format, or write a one page personal reflection for the two summer reading books.
