Title: Becoming a World Citizen in the 21st Century

Summary:

Our children are growing up with technology that allows them to think globally as well as locally.  However, we must continue to help them think critically.  The January 3rd Parent Lecture Series presentation will focus on how PBDA is using thinking routines – specific classroom practices that serve to organize student thought and reinforce good thinking habits.  Bena Kallick, author of  “Learning and Leading with Habits of Mind,” will be joined by several teachers to explain how such routines lead children to think, to understand points of view, and to distinguish between multiple perspectives and understand the meaning of each.  Parents will gain insight into various grade level classroom practices that move students from early purposeful thinking activities to advanced behaviors that become intuitive life-long thinking habits.
