Seven years ago, we began our China Partnership with the goal of cultivating an understanding in our community, that, more than ever, we are world citizens who must be open to people of all cultures. We believed then, as we do now, that direct, person-to-person contact with citizens of a distant culture was the best way to reach that goal. Since the beginning of our partnership in 2010, seventy-five PBDA students and teachers have journeyed to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Xian and Beijing. We are achieving our goal.
A genuine cultural exchange has grown. PBDA has hosted children from our partnership school in Hong Kong, Alliance Primary School, as well as our friends from the Living Hope Orphanage, located just outside Beijing. Our entire school community has experienced quality time with our Chinese friends, and many of our students stay in touch through Skype, email and social media.
PBDA's China Partnership visit to China occurs on alternate years. The next trip is scheduled for March, 2017.
