Arts

The Fine and Performing Arts programs at Palm Beach Day Academy are varied and extensive because we strongly believe that artistic self-expression is an essential part of a well-rounded education.  Our curriculum recognizes the role that art, music and creative expression play in developing critical thinking and problem solving skills. Programs are taught by specialists whose passion for their fields is contagious.

Students are regularly involved in visual art activities taught by specialists during the week in the Primary and elementary grades.  Beginning in 5th grade, students have art activities daily and develop their skills in drawing, painting, and pottery studios.  The 7th through 9th graders choose from an array of art electives that range from photography to computer art, to the production of a student newspaper and television program, as well as advanced drawing and painting courses.  The Fine Arts Festival and the Creative Arts Showcase, each spring, are spectacular exhibits of student artwork from the year.

Music instruction, instrumental, percussion and vocal, is provided at every level in various formats.  The Pre-Primary thru Kindergarten students share music with each other and their families through the Music Together® program.  Suzuki violin instruction is available.  Lower and Upper School choruses perform regularly during the year.  In the upper grades, students have opportunities to participate in music and drama courses and performances.  A spring musical production discovers previously untapped talents in our upper-schoolers annually. Throughout the year, special assemblies, activities and events such as International Day and Earth Day make the school a great place to grow.
